OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
CITY OF ANDERSON INDIANA
DECLARATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY
Pursuant to the powers vested in me by the laws of the State of Indiana and the City of Anderson, I do hereby declare a State of Emergency for the City of Anderson due to the extraordinary weather conditions currently befalling the city and state, particularly the heavy snow fall with an expected accumulation of 10-12 inches occurring in a short period of time, coupled with high winds resulting in drifting of snow into the roadways, and the anticipated below freezing temperatures.
This emergency status shall be in existence effective immediately and shall remain in effect until modified or terminated.
As a result of said emergency I hereby urge all residents of the city to travel only for matters of necessity or for reasons of emergency.
I hereby direct that residents move their vehicles from any marked Snow Emergency routes, and from streets and roadways to allow for snow crews to remove snow from the streets.
As a result of said emergency I hereby direct that the Anderson City Hall closed during the emergency. All city physical facilities shall be closed to the public during the emergency. This shall include the drive through services as the utility office at city hall.
Except for city employees serving public safety, utility field or maintenance including those in Light and Power, Water, and Water Pollution Control, or employees from all departments assigned to the Snow Brigade or snow removal duties assigned to employees with the Street department or otherwise shall not report to their physical offices until this declaration is modified or terminated, unless otherwise directed by their supervisors. Any such employees not so reporting shall be available during the normal working hours to report if call by their supervisors. All such employees shall be paid during this emergency.
It is further directed that all employees and city of Anderson residents shall comply with Madison County and State of Indiana Homeland Security travel advisories and declarations.
All of which is so ordered this 15th day of February 2021.
Thomas J. Broderick, Jr.
