Public Information Requests

The Access to Public Records Act (APRA), Indiana Code 5-14-3, provides that a person has the right to access information regarding the government and the official acts of public officials and employees. The statute also states that government officials have a responsibility to provide that information to you.

The Public Records Act only applies to those records which exist at the time a request is made.  The City is not required to create documents or lists to fulfill requests.  Your request must be specific in order to identify what public records are requested.  General informational questions that do not fall under the Act must be directed to the appropriate individual in order to receive a response.

If you wish to request public records that are covered under the Act, then you must complete the form and email it to publicinformationrequest@cityofanderson.com. or mail to the Public Information Office located on the 5th floor of City Hall, 120 E. 8th Street, Anderson, IN, 46016.
