UNITED WAY AND CARTER EXPRESS CHALLENGE THE COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN 5th ANNUAL UNITED WAY HUMAN TRUCK PULL

Saturday, September 8th – 10 am at Hoosier Park

ANDERSON, IN – United Way of Madison County and Carter Express want to know, do you have what it takes to pull a 33,000 lb. semi with a 53 ft. trailer 125 feet faster than anyone else?

The Human Truck Pull is back for its fifth year on Saturday, September 8 at a new location – Hoosier Park Racing & Casino. The event will serve as United Way of Madison County’s campaign kick-off and a featured fundraising event.

The United Way Human Truck Pull is a timed competition between teams of 10 (men’s teams) or 12 (co-ed teams, at least 4 female members) to pull a Carter Express 33,000 lb. semi with trailer 125 feet, in a head-to-head competition. Teams must either raise a minimum of $500 in fundraising or pay a $500 entry fee to participate. To assist teams who want to fundraise, United Way offers personal, easy-to-use online fundraising pages for free that can be used by team members and non-pulling supporters alike. All team members who compete will also receive a t-shirt at the pull.

Event registration begins at 9 a.m., with the opening ceremony starting at 10 a.m. An awards ceremony will be held following the final pull of the day. At the ceremony, prizes will be awarded to winning teams for Fastest Team Overall, Fastest Team (Coed and Men’s), and Most Money Raised. The Fastest Team award will be based on pull times in each division, while the Most Money Raised award is determined by the amount of money raised by a team and its supporters beyond the $500 entry fee, both before and during the event. Bragging rights are included with every award!

Interested teams can register online at www.unitedwaymadisonco.org/truckpull. You may also request an electronic version of the entry form by emailing k.williams@unitedwaymadisonco.org . Deadline for team registration is August 29.

This year will again feature a free Kid’s Exhibition Pull before the awards ceremony of the event. Children between the ages of 8-15 are invited to join a combined kid’s group pull of the semi’s cab alone, without the trailer, as the crowd cheers them on.

In addition, a variety of family-friendly activities including a kid’s play area, DJ and MAX 93.5 FM will also be on-site. A few individuals will also share their stories of how their lives have been impacted by United Way locally. The public is encouraged to bring kids, family and friends to watch and cheer on the teams. Admission to the event is free but donations will be accepted.

The partnership of United Way and Carter Express to host the Human Truck Pull on September 8th, will benefit thousands of individuals and families across all of Madison County by supporting programs that give opportunities for individuals and families to overcome poverty, become self-sufficient and THRIVE.

United Way is also seeking volunteers to assist with the Human Truck Pull. If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions regarding the 5th Annual United Way Human Truck Pull contact Kim Williams at 765-608-3064 or k.williams@unitedwaymadisonco.org.
