Mayor announces free admission and new hours of the Anderson Southside Pool
Mayor Thomas Broderick, Jr. has announced free admission to Anderson Southside Pool for the remainder of the summer season beginning Tuesday, July 31st. Additionally, due to the reopening of schools and reduced availability of lifeguards, new hours have also been announced. The pool will be opened Tuesday through Thursday 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday noon to 7 p.m. The pool will be closed after Sunday, August 19th then reopen for a final weekend of August 25th and 26th and thereafter the pool will be closed for the summer.
The city experienced an increase in its patronage this year. Mayor Broderick said that his goals were to improve the facility and expand the hours. Extensive remodeling was done early this year and hours were extended. Tom Tacket, Park Maintenance Superintendent accredited the pool's success this year with the extensive remodeling and extended summer hours.
Broderick praised park maintenance superintendent, Tom Tacket and the park staff for their efforts. “We have a large park system with many facilities and parks. We have made park improvements a priority, with added summer programs for children, an improved concert series, upgrading of park facilities and trail paving. These efforts would not be possible without the hard work of Tom Tacket, the park staff, and the oversight and efforts of our park board. With this team approach, we will continue to provide great park and recreational opportunities and activities in Anderson that the whole family can enjoy. We are proud to be able to offer this improved pool facility to our community for the rest of the summer,” Mayor Broderick stated.
