Mayor Broderick presents details of the parade and celebration
Annual Independence Parade and Community Celebration
ANDERSON – IN – Mayor Thomas Broderick, Jr. and The City of Anderson are pleased to bring you the Annual Independence Parade and Community Celebration. This year’s theme is “The Greatest Show on Main”.
The celebration will begin with a parade featuring many of Anderson’s finest businesses and organizations. We have two bands participating again this year; The Anderson High School Marching Highlanders and the Crossroads of America Scout Band. The crowd favorite Shriners Desert Patrol will also be on hand. The parade check-in and line up starts at 5:30 PM and is located at the intersection of Main St. and University Boulevard, at the East end of the Truman Bridge. The parade will begin at 7:00 PM at the intersection of Main St. and 8th. The route is the same as in prior years: 8th and Main south to 13th Street, 13th west to Jackson Street, Jackson Street north to 7th Street.
Immediately following the parade is the start of the Community Celebration at Athletic Park; highlighted by the 8:30 PM performance by Nashville recording artist, Corey Cox. Athletic Park will have a carnival like feel with free activities, surprises and treats for children. Mayor Broderick will welcome guests to the concert and distribute free giveaways as the night progresses.
The celebration will conclude with fireworks for the community to enjoy starting at 10:00 PM at Athletic Park. As always, the Parade Committee greatly appreciates the many local sponsors of the event.
